LANXESS to build plant in Lipezk in Russia
The German specialty chemicals group LANXESS is focusing on the megatrend of mobility on the Russian market too. At its new site in Lipezk, LANXESS subsidiary Rhein Chemie will produce rubber additives and release agents for the Russian and CIS markets, especially for the automotive and tire industries. Construction of the new production plant is due to start in early 2012, with the launch of production scheduled for the first half of 2013. In 2016, a production facility for bladders used in tire production is to be added. Total investment will amount to around EUR 5 million, creating 40 new jobs in the medium term.

LANXESS pioneering high performance rubbers for green mobility in China

LANXESS: Sales in China expected to exceed EUR 1 billion for the first time in 2012
Specialty chemicals company LANXESS is continuing to focus on the growing Chinese market and is on track to achieve sales of more than EUR 1 billion there in fiscal 2012. "China will continue to be a cornerstone of our fast-growing Asian business," said LANXESS CEO Axel C. Heitmann prior to the second Rubber Day China, which is held in Beijing on December 2. "Our technology-driven products, which facilitate sustainable mobility, will play a major part in achieving this sales target."

LANXESS to showcase green and innovative solutions for the coatings industry
Specialty chemicals company LANXESS will be presenting its comprehensive product portfolio for the paints and coatings industry at the upcoming Chinacoat 2011. The grand journey, which lasted 10 months and covered 17,000 km, is in support of a good cause: to raise funds for WaterAid, whilst at the same time increasing awareness of an important environmental issue.
LANXESS acquires Pittsburgh biocide specialist Verichem
LANXESS is strengthening its portfolio of biocides with the acquisition of Verichem Inc. based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a result, the German specialty chemicals company will significantly bolster its position in the U.S. material protection market and broaden its global biocide manufacturing network. Both parties have agreed not to disclose financial details.
LANXESS on track for record year
LANXESS achieved a record third quarter in 2011 due to ongoing strong demand especially for its synthetic rubbers and high-tech plastics. The German specialty chemicals company also reiterated its full-year outlook for EBITDA pre exceptionals to grow about 20 percent year-on-year and thus exceed the EUR one billion mark for the first time in the company’s history.
LANXESS signs Investment Agreement to build a new inorganic pigments plant in Ningbo
German specialty chemicals company LANXESS has entered into a conditional investment agreement with Ningbo Petrochemical Economic & Technological Development Zone for a future investment project. According to the agreement, LANXESS plans to build a new facility for the production of inorganic pigments in Ningbo to further grow its business in China and globally. The construction of the plant on this site is still subject to the approval of local authorities and further investigation of the suitability of the site.
LANXESS expands portfolio with bio-based plasticizers
LANXESS is strengthening its commitment to renewable raw materials. The German specialty chemicals company aims to produce phthalate-free plasticizers from bio-based succinic acid from 2012 onwards. Its strategic partner is the U.S. company BioAmber, Inc., based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. BioAmber is a global leader in succinic acid generated on the basis of renewable resources. Together, the two companies are developing plasticizers, whose cost-effectiveness and safety profile make them sustainable alternatives to phthalate-containing formulations.
LANXESS strengthens global phthalate-free plasticizer portfolio
LANXESS is strengthening its global asset base and product portfolio for premium, environmentally-friendly phthalate-free plasticizers. The specialty chemicals company has agreed to acquire UNITEX Chemical Corporation located in Greensboro, North Carolina. Financial details were not disclosed. The transaction also represents LANXESS’ first acquisition of a manufacturing site in the United States.
Chromite foundry sand now direct from LANXESS
LANXESS is already among the world's top producers of chrome ore for chemical applications. "In the future, we will also make our chromite sand available for a wider range of industrial applications," said Dr. Andreas Eickhoff, head of Strategic Marketing Chrome at LANXESS. "Through integration of the supply chain from mine to end-user, all from a single supplier, we can provide the foundry industry with high-quality chromite sand products of consistently high quality," he added.
